Simple Clothing Alterations

Simple Clothing Alterations

I recently bought these three tops from H&M. I needed to purchase some new basic tops as the ones I have are currently on their last leg. The only problem I found is that when wearing these new tops, the pocket (which isn’t actually a pocket) opens up and sit in an unflattering way. Now if these tops had cost a lot of money, I would say having to adjust them yourself isn’t worth it, however they only cost £9.99 each, and seen as my previous ones have lasted me a couple of years, I feel they are worth the extra investment of my time. So this is how I fixed the issue.

Turning the top inside out I thread the needle through into the hem of the pocket, once in the middle of the hem (which allowed for the thread to remain invisible from the outside) I eased the needle down about half way, worked it back out to the inside of the top, and repeated the process again. This was enough to secure the pocket hem to the top, and voilà.

I know this isn’t the most exciting of posts, but maybe it will help someone, or inspire someone to edit an item of clothing that has one small flaw.

Where do you draw the line with paying for clothes that you’ll then have to alter to make perfect?

Can’t believe you can change a top like that and I can’t even thread a needle! You need to teach me, or do some for me 😉 x

That’s a good idea, I hate it when pockets do that x
