Brands I Want More Of: Sanctuary Spa

Brands I Want More Of: Sanctuary Spa

This post is going to be the fifth installment (you can see the first one here, second here, third here and fourth here) of a series I started to do about brands that I want to try more of, because what I have tried, I’ve loved. I will do a review of what I use and would be very appreciative if in the comments you could leave any suggestions for what else I should try from the brand mentioned. Hope you all like the idea of this series.

Sanctuary Spa, Covent Garden

Illuminating Moisture Lotion SPF 15                                         Cost – 15ml | £2.99 – Boots

What Sanctuary says: “Natural radiance boosting ingredients and a fresh blend of essential oils infused within our RADIANCE range works to refine texture, even skin tone and deliver a healthy looking glow. Powered by hydrating cocoa butter, skin radiance activator pink pomelo & a brightening extract from superfruit kakadu plum, the world’s highest source of vitamin C, this lusciously light lotion delivers more even looking skin tone, refines skin texture & reduces the appearance of fine lines for youthful looking skin with a fresh & healthy glow. To boost skin’s natural defences, our protective moisture & SPF complex shields your skin, providing 24 hour protective hydration so your skin stays feeling soft, smooth & moisturised all day.”

This is the one item I haven’t used yet (although by the time this post goes live I will have used it), as I am awful and basically never wear suncream unless abroad. However, I am getting Dermaplaning soon and it advises you to give your skin extra protection from the sun for a period of time afterwards, so I will be using this everyday, post treatment, for a week because it is SPF 15.

Warming Detox Charcoal Wash                                                     Cost – 100ml | £9 – Boots

What Sanctuary says: “Intensely purifying yet non-drying deep cleanse daily face wash. This gently warming face wash helps open up pores & is infused with charcoal to help draw out impurities from within the skin. Reveal perfectly cleansed, refreshed and purified skin. Helps unclog pores, reduce shine and remove excess oil for a smoother and clearer looking complexion.”

I did a quick review on this, back in a very early post on my everyday skincare, which you can view here. Basically it is a lovely product, the fact that I listed it in my everyday skincare over the many other products I also use and love shows this. I reach for it a lot without specifically knowing why – I feel like some products have a drastic effect on your skin, whether good or bad, this is neither. It feels gentle yet provides a really thorough clean. It is a simple, does what is says on the tube, nothing more, nothing less product. That review makes it sound quite lame, but it really isn’t, it is just perfectly simple.

To use it you rub it on to your dry face, gently massaging it in until the gel becomes silky, add a few drops of water and continue to massage it into a lather (don’t expect an intense lather) and then rinse it off.

Fresh-Faced Purifying Wash                                                                              [Discontinued]

What Sanctuary says: “Your daily cleanser for a clear, healthy complexion.”

Until doing this review I didn’t realise this had actually been discontinued, whilst I only ever had a smaller, sample size, I did enjoy this product. It gives a deep-cleanse without leaving your skin sensitive, dry or tight. I am assuming that all the Sanctuary skincare washes are like this; they work very well, but are gentle? It has quite a nice smell too, lemongrass(y). It is a shame it has been discounted as I would of repurchased a full size eventually. There isn’t much reason for me to review this now, but I took the pictures before writing the text. So you’re stuck with this slightly pointless paragraph. 😉

Ultra Rich Body Butter                                                                Cost – 300ml | £12.50 – Boots

What Sanctuary says: “Envelop your body in extra restorative rich & creamy buttery goodness. This intensely nourishing blend of wheatgerm oil, shea & cocoa butter melts into skin to leave it feeling soft, replenished & restored with moisture.”

The smell of this moisturiser is nothing magical, it’s not a bad smell but it can hurt my nose after awhile. I have a pretty good sense of smell though, and when a scent is strong, it causes me a intense pain at the bridge of my nose, and can even develop into a headache. Who else suffers from this? Distributing this cream is relatively easy, it does take a little bit of effort to rub in, but I think that’s due to it being a intensive, thick moisturiser. As for the result, it does leave you feeling soft, but I feel like it never really soaks in, it just sits there, feeling slightly damp, until it eventually rubs off on clothing. Out of all the products I have from Sanctuary, this is one that I am not specifically into. But if you have very dry skin, maybe this would work a lot better for you. I have seen a lot of reviews from people that love it, but for me – not so much.

Luxurious Body Butter                                                                                        [Discontinued]

What Sanctuary says: “Wrap your body in our award-winning 24hr moisture hero to instantly smooth and soften skin.”

Again, why is it discontinued dammit, I knew coming into this post that one item I was going to talk about was discontinued (a few years ago) and I was only including it because it was my favourite body moisturiser and nothing since has come close, but this is no longer being sold either – what you playing at Sanctuary?

This cream is lighter and has a looser consistency,  it’s smell is better in my opinion to the Ultra Rich Body Butter, still nothing special, but I can bear it more. It requires about the standard amount of effort to rub in, and whilst it does feel damp for a handful of minutes, it soaks in so much better. I’m not left feeling sticky or wet. After applying the above mosturiser to one arm and this one to another, I find that the arm that feels softer after an hour or so is the arm with the Luxurious Body Butter.

Now for the most upsetting part of this post –

Cocooning Body Butter

Oh this beauty! I have never, and possibly will never again, find a moisturiser so perfect. It was almost mousse-like in consistency, just all fluffy and light. It rubbed in in such a lovely way because of this. It wasn’t greasy or wet in the slightest, just wonderfully soft. And the smell – oh it pains me even to think of it – it was so delicious. I’ve decided, for the sake of you guys, not for me, not at all, to finally buy one off eBay, it is the same name, different packaging, but I am hopeful it will be the original in everything else. Did anyone ever use this and miss it as dearly as I do?

What other products are worth trying from Sanctuary? Any suggestions?

Gorgeous pictures! I don’t think I have ever used sanctuary spa products I have always thought they were very expensive.

Love the sound of the body butter though, it sounds very luxurious. I might give it a go! x

Thank you 😊 some kind seem a bit pricey but you do get a good amount for your money, they do strike me as a slight luxurious brand too.. maybe it’s the packaging 😊 x
