My Sister notified me to an ELLE Magazine subscription of 6 months for £10 with makeup freebies of around £50, so I snapped that up, and made a mental note to make sure I cancel the subscription!
My plan was to let you all know but the offer ended almost immediately afterwards as they ran out of Benefit products and were having to substitute other brands in to a equal or higher value. After waiting months, my gifts finally arrived.
Firstly, there is the Benefit ‘They’re Real! Double The Lip’ in Pink Thrills. I really love both of the colours, I’ll put a swatch picture below to show the two different shades and them mixed together (which is how I prefer to use it). The way this is suppose to work is as a lipstick and liner in one, making your lips appear fuller by having the darker shade on the outer part of your lip and the lighter on the inside. This separation in colours works pretty well on your upper lip, but the angle I find I have to hold the lipstick for my lower lip is more challenging. It sure is a pretty colour though. I haven’t tried it past an initial play about so I’m not sure on how well it wears.
Next is the Benefit ‘Ready, Set, Brow’ and ‘Goof Proof Brow Pencil’. The brow mascara is clear and to be used to set your other brow products. I’m looking forward to trying this but mainly because I want to know if it’s worth the kind of money they are selling for it, which is £20 by the way, vs say the Rimmel one that costs £4.
The brow pencil is apparently waterproof and up to 12 hour wearing. The pointed end is for defining hair whilst the wider tip for filling in and colouring. I love the lid, it just gives it that little something extra, and I imagine it’ll make finding it in my makeup bag easier (I can spend so much time rooting around, I’m seriously considering a clear makeup bag just so it’s easier to find stuff).
The following two products are Benefit ‘Hoola Quick Contour Stick’ and ‘Dew The Hoola’ liquid bronzer. Having never tried the original Benefit Hoola Bronzer (I’m assuming they are the same colour as the original) I’m looking forward to trying these out, I would have preferred the powder but I think the stick could be quite easy to use. That’s my main concern, that I’ll make a mess with the liquid, so I need to play about with it on a day where I don’t have to go out afterwards.
Finally, I received Bobbi Brown ‘Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks’ in Powder Pink, I’ve never owned a Bobbi Brown product before, but from initial look and swatch I think the colour is lovely.
As for ELLE Magazine itself, I’d never normally buy it. The quality is great, and it totally makes me feel like Carrie from Sex And The City, but I’m much more a Look or Closer magazine type of girl. I will be keeping them around for photos, having them in the background makes me appear more sophisticated. 😉
If any of these products have specifically caught your eye and you’d like a more in-depth review, please let me know? Have you subscribed to a magazine before purely for the goodies?
