Christmas Eve Pamper Routine

Christmas Eve Pamper Routine

Christmas Eve is always a bit of a last minute rush within my family, but for the most part I try and relax and pamper myself, so for this Friday’s post I thought I’d share my Christmas Eve Pamper Routine.

Christmas Eve is my eldest Nieces birthday so we try to make sure that we celebrate her birthday and not let Christmas bleed too much into her day; so after going round, having cake, singing and giving presents I usually walk the dogs home. Which is always nice after the frantic, loud birthday antics which usually have around 8 adults, 5 children, 3 dogs, 2 rabbits and a hamster — so that walk home is usually a nice way of resetting the calm (that’s not to say I don’t love being there – I do – but coming away is just as nice). I also love seeing everyone’s Christmas decorations and counting how many trees I can see during a walk (a tradition started with my Mum from childhood).

Once home, I’ll have a small(ish) tea as I know I’ll be stuffing my face come tomorrow.

I usually do any last minute wrapping, stocking stuffing or organising of presents now. I will lay them out ready for the morning and then head upstairs for the rest of the evening.

The next part of my evening are the little ‘chores’ I do pre pamper that make me feel extra pampered afterwards. This includes vacuuming my bedroom and changing my bedding, pajamas and dressing gown – I love the feeling post-bath of clean pj’s and fresh bedding.

I will now do my favourite 4 steps, in life, basically; remove my bra, remove my contacts, remove my makeup and remove my splint = pure heaven.

Before a looong bath I’ll do a quick session of dry brushing which just improves general circulation and helps minimise cellulite (the original offensive C word). On a normal evening I can spent an excessive amount of time in the bathtub, as I mentioned in my previous Evening Routine post, the hot water (and I do mean hot) soothes my ankle pain whilst I’m in it, so I tend to stretch out my baths as long as possible simply for that reason. I usually read a book whilst in the bath but sometimes I’ll buy some magazines to flick through, I find the simple act of buying a magazine, when you don’t normally, makes the whole process feel more pampering. I’ll have some Epsom salts in the tub to also help soothe my muscles and joints, bubbles and some kind of bath bomb – because is a Christmas bath even a Christmas bath without a Lush product?

After my whole in-bath process (which you can read in that previous post linked above) I’ll moisturise my entire body. I’ll wash my face with one of my favourite combos, First Aid Beauty Deep Cleanser and First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Polish, you can read more of my thought on these two products here.

Then I’ll gently shave my face, I have previously tried Dermaplaning, you can read about my experience here, but for now I’m happy to just do it at home myself; it leaves your face looking brighter and glowing and helps makeup apply and sit better on the skin. I would advice, if you haven’t done this before, not to try it out for the first time on Christmas Eve.

Afterwards I’ll put on a face mask, especially on the evening before a day of pictures I’ll use a tried and tested face mask, on Christmas Eve I usually choose a moisturising or plumping mask which also helps my makeup look better the next day. I plan on mixing Avene Soothing Moisture Mask with a few drops of The Body Shop Vitamin E Serum and use my Primark Cleanse and Massage Brush to massage it all in for a few minutes. I’ll also use my DIY Lip Scrub to make sure my lips are in tip-top condition for all the smiling that will hopefully happen on Christmas Day.

After letting my hair air dry I’ll relatively quickly run my straighteners through it. As I usually prefer to curl my hair on Christmas day I only straighten it enough to make the next morning easier, if I don’t apply some heat to it it becomes beyond unruly and very large the following morning.

I tend to get my nails done at a salon for Christmas, but this year, since finding and loving Elegant Touch (you can see a review I did on them here) I decided to just use these. I plan to either use their glue on nails ‘Valentina‘ or ‘Steel The Night‘, as I won’t actually be putting them on until Christmas Eve you can look at my Sisters amazing festive nails instead 😉 😍

So, from here I will put on a festive film, grab a cup of tea and put on my false nails, which luckily is a quick process. Then I’ll sit back, snack of something festive (mince pie anyone..?) and watch my telly whilst cuddling with my two favourites (my dogs).

This year I’ll being adding in an extra step, which is blogging. I’ll check up on any posts that my fellow bloggers have published, and confirm that any of mine are ready to go (are you excited to find out who the winner of my giveaway is?).

Christmas Eve Pamper Routine

Inside secret: I’m not actually writing anything here – I know, I’m surprisingly realistic looking at fake writing.

To end my evening I’ll usually watch a bit of YouTube or whatever TV series I am currently watching (I’ve recently been introduced to The Real Housewives Of New York – roll your eyes if you must). Sometimes I’ll pick my book up and read a bit more, but either way, I’m wearing cuddly, cosy pajamas, (which are from New Look by the way and are the most amazing pj’s I’ve ever owned, they are available here and they sell them in blue stars too – I might have both, I might have also grown a mild addition to the material) lying in clean bedding, surrounded by festive lights, candle burning, brew waiting to be drank and cuddling with my furbabies, which in my opinion cannot be beaten – well, unless someone wants to come and give me a massage..? No offers? Alright then.

Now I have a slightly random question, when you get in bed after a long day, do you rub your legs along your sheets? I find that such a relaxing sensation, like a really good yawn and stretch combo..? I must look like a weirdo but it’s very enjoyable to do.

After this I do the general teeth brushing and letting the dogs out for their last wee, then we snuggle in bed and wait for Santa.

If you want to see Oscars thoughts on Santa Paws go over to my Instagram and check out the description of these photos. He may have enraged Santa..
