Over recent months I’ve began setting myself some monthly blogging goals. Here, I will review Decembers goals and whether they were achieved or not, and set my future goals for January. I have found that setting these goals, writing them down, and being held almost accountable by publishing them online, I have achieved more than I otherwise would. Because of this, I do think it is a great idea to set yourself monthly, bi-monthly etc.. goals if you’re wanting to push yourself and achieve more.
LAST MONTHS GOALS:
- Promote – I want to continue figuring out Pinterest and working on a set theme for the photos I upload there. I have revamped a lot of them but I’m still not happy with how they look compared to other peoples pins. Anyone who already has a handle on Pinterest must be shaking their head at how long this process has been taking me. 🙈
I have continued to upload pins, that all have a general theme. However, I haven’t devoted as much time to this as I had intended, I think I need to try the free trial of tailwind or buffer or boardbooster.. or any of them.
- Festive Posts – I have a list of festive posts that I hope to write and publish this month. I’d have loved to have partaken in Blogmas but I think, for now, that’s too ambitious for me. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone else’s though and take my hat off (it’s a Primark Pom-Pom Beanie if you’re wondering) to anyone creative enough to do it. Instead I’d like to maintain my 3 posts a week scheduled (and maybe a couple more) and have predominately festive posts all this month.
I think I managed this goal pretty successfully. There were definitely other festive posts I had wanted to write but with December being a busy month in general, and a family loss I did only manage to maintain the 3 posts a week plus two extra at the very end of the month, and luckily almost all of them were pre-scheduled.
- Increase Followers – I am currently at around 480, so I don’t know what to say for this one. I feel like last month I was closer to the goal I wanted to achieve, whilst this month, if I continue going up in hundreds (disregarding 500 and instead aiming for 600) I might not reach it, especially having just gone self-hosted as there is often a initial decline in activity and interaction to begin with. However, this is definitely cheating if I’m only choosing goals that I’m 90% confident I’ll hit. So, lets just say it, I’d like to hit 550 blog followers and 200 Instagram followers (uhh, even typing that sends a wave of anxiety through me — and I chicken out from putting 600). I’m so lame, I’d more than happily jump out of a plane, swim with sharks or base jump – but writing some numbers on a screen gives me a major case of the nerves.
I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to hit this, the growth in followers has been slower this month. I hit 500 followers on the 12th and 551 at the very end of the month cycle (since my last blogging goals post). I didn’t manage to reach 200 followers on my Instagram, instead reaching 177 before the end of the month. However, I am still very happy with both of these, I haven’t been focused on any of my goals this past month, so what have gained and achieved I am still really pleased with. So thank you very much to anyone who follows, likes or comments on my posts. December was especially hard personally and within my family, and I’ve found this outlet a real mood booster. I’m so glad I decided to finally create a blog back in June.
I did want to quickly mention that three lovely bloggers included me in their posts this month, I wanted to say a big thank you to each of you as it really does mean a lot to me! So thank you Emma for mentioning me in your ‘My Favourite Bloggers’ post, thank you to Sophie for including me in your ‘My Favourite Posts From Bloggers –‘, and Rossy for listing me twice in her ‘December 2017 In Review: Blogger Spotlight’. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 😉
I am going to skip setting goals for January. As I’ve mentioned, things are hectic lately so I think whilst I’ll still work hard on my blog posts and putting my stuff out there, I’m not going to set any specific goals to achieve.
