If you’ve seen my blogging goals for this month you’ll know that I wanted to recycle some old blog posts. I’m finishing this months goal off with this post which I originally published back in November.
Over time I’ve built up a fair amount of go-to blogging photography props, some of which I already had lying around my house. Others which I’ve bought and some that I’ve crafted. I’ll put a list at the end of the post which you can keep for reference if you’re ever looking for prop ideas.

Blogging Photography Prop Ideas:
Work With The Item
Decorative Gravel/Pebbles/Stones
(a.k.a vase fillers)
Real Flowers / Fake Flowers
You really can’t beat using flowers, real work best but fake are great in a pinch – and you don’t have to worry about them dying. There aren’t many photos which wouldn’t benefit or look good with some flowers peeking in.
White Cardboard
The white cardboard I use is literally just the lid to a cardboard box from Ikea. My first ever photos on my blog where taken on these and I still frequently use them now.
Coloured Card / Paper
Whilst shopping at The Range I came across a pack of patterned paper, advertised as suitable for making cards, wrapping gifts and scrap-booking. They have come in very useful and I love using them alone or angled against the white cardboard.
Marble
Marble, marble, marble. How loved you are. I recently bought some marble contact paper and stuck it to large pieces of cardboard and voilà, perfect, chic backgrounds.
Photo Prints
This can be prints you’ve bought online or use old calender’s which is what I’ve previously done.
Fabrics
Rugs, throws, clothes; anything with texture adds a lovely dimension to a photo.
Books / Magazines
These can be a cheap way of styling your photos, there will be multiple pages within a magazine that will work for photos, or use books off your bookshelf that have pretty covers.
Brickwork / Pavement
Baskets
Stationery
Perfume Bottles
Use Different Angles
Sometimes instead of the bird’s eye view I prefer eye level photos, using mirrors, curtains and walls as the backdrop.
