Pet Peeves | Things That Just Tick Me Off

Pet Peeves

Here’s an unrelated picture of my new plant, just because..

I’ve seen quite a few bloggers do a post like this and I’ve never been too interested in doing it myself as I don’t really get annoyed or enraged by the standard ‘pet peeves’ that others have, such as;

  • Spelling Mistakes – Spelling or grammar mistakes don’t really anger me as I know sometimes it’s an accident, sometimes the person just isn’t a great speller or they suffers from dyslexia. It’s just not something that personally offends me – UNLESS the person making spelling mistakes is the type of person to moan about people making spelling mistakes! That kind of ironic hypocrisy kills me.
  • Music In Public – Another very common pet peeve is people who play their music through the speakers rather than earphones in public. If they are younger I get it, you’re a teenager and obnoxious and inconsiderate, hopefully age will make you wiser. And if you are an adult who does it, yes you are rude, but honestly, I’ll just put my own earphones in and drown them out.
  • Loud Chewers | Mouth Breathers – This doesn’t really annoy me either. Maybe I’ve just never encountered it to the extreme? And as for mouth breathers, that doesn’t anger me as I understand that not everyone can breathe through their nose (raise your hand if you suffer from a deviated septum and cannot breathe through your nose)… ✋

But after putting some thought into it I realised I do have quite a few pet peeves, this might actually have to be split into more than one post.

Biting Ice Lollies – Oh god, it pains me even to write this. I emotionally cannot deal with this, it causes me physical pain and I kinda wish it was against the law. It’s just wrong dammit.

Unsynchronized Product Use – Why when I use the same amount, specifically the same amount because I know how much this annoys me, do my shampoo and conditioner never run out at the same time!? It breaks the law of physics.. chemistry? biology??🤔 IT BREAKS THE LAW.

Insincere Planners People who suggest plans or agree to plan with no intention of ever following through – WHY? Just say no, or don’t suggest it, period. Don’t agree to specific plans and then fob it off and act surprised when I’m annoyed by the rudeness of that as if I should have understood that ‘Yeah, we’ll do that’ actually means ‘Nah, I ain’t doing that’.

Repetition – I hate having to repeat myself. The kind of repetition were you’ve had to say the same thing so many times that you no longer care about what you’re saying. This usually happens when someone isn’t paying attention but is still asking you to repeat yourself. I honestly prefer it when people are straight and just tell me they are not interested in what I’m saying or just to wait and tell them when they’re done doing X-Y-Z (usually messing on their phones).

Which leads on to my next pet peeve which might sound contradictory considering what I’ve just said. But it’s different!

My Sister And my nephew (but it’s harder to hate him). My Sister and Nephew are both awkward, easily embarrassed people so I understand why they do this but it still drives me mental.

They will say something at a normal decibel, but I won’t hear them. So I will ask them to repeat it, and they will – BUT QUIETER. So I’ll have to ask again, so they repeat it another time – BUT QUIETER STILL! This can go on until they are whispering. And sometimes it’s time sensitive information, like “do I need to take this next right?” whilst driving. So by the time I finally get the answer I’m past the turn.

I get it, I do. They realise they are being listened too and they get nervous and that makes them talk quieter. But also, how many mental backflips do you have to do to think that me saying “what?” actually means “please talk quieter so I have to ask you again.. and again.” I love them, I do. But I kinda hate them too.

People Who Say ‘Ew’ About Your Food – My Mum does this and I just don’t get it. Saying in passing ‘oh, I don’t like that’ is okay, but the people who go on and on and on about how much something you are eating disgusts them drive me mad. “Ew, that looks so gross, ew the smell, really? How can you eat that? I feel sick even looking at it? Oh god, it smells sooooo bad”. Bitch just stop. I ain’t forcing you to eat it!

I’ll leave it here for today as I’ve realised I have been typing these really aggressively and that I am finishing all the sentences by hitting my full stop key very angrily. Do you agree with any of my pet peeves?

Ahahaha love this, I don’t like spelling mistakes too and I cringe so hard when I make one but I need to be kinder with myself, speaking both italian and english, there is a bit of a mess in my brain XD my biggest pet peeve is when I’m walking and people are walking behind me too close and the speak to loud. I usually stop and let them pass but I get super pissed. XD Other than that I mostly have the same pet peeves as you!

I’d happily take making spelling mistakes for being fluent in two languages like you! Yeah, I find it unnerving when people walk close behind me, I understand when people do it because they want to get pass so they are speeding up but I hate when I move aside and they just remain behind me 😑

Hahaha! 😂😂😂 This was funny because I often speak quieter if I want someone to listen to me…which doesn’t make sense right? But if you lower your tone, instinctively the recipient has to focus on what’s being said (because they can’t really hear it)

It takes a while to perfect 😂😂😂 As for me I just can’t take it if someone puts the wrong item in a recycling box! 😲😲😲 I live a flat, so often come into conflict with this issue!

Well Becky doesn’t do it to make me pay attention, she just gets nervous and whispers 🙈
I bet that’s annoying, I find it interesting how different everyone’s pet peeves can be and how they are often based on current circumstances.

Oh my gooooosh, the insincere planners. Just. No. I totally relate to that one 100%!! It’s so annoying when people do that. When I was in college, my ex and I planned some sort of dinner date. He lived about an hour away and said he was gonna stay over for the weekend. Literally, maybe at 4pm, I finished getting ready, cleaned my dorm room, etc. and he texted me last minute saying that he wasn’t going to come over anymore. -.- I felt like crap that day, sooooo rude!

How annoying! I understand that stuff happens and sometimes you have to cancel but on that short of notice and for no valid reason enrages me!
