I was recently inspired to try my hand at this Crystal Skull Halloween Makeup Look. I saw this in a Superdrug’s Dare magazine and I thought it looked amazing, so logically – with my very limited makeup abilities – I thought it’d be the perfect makeup look for me to recreate for this Halloween post.
How I recreated this Crystal Skull Halloween Makeup Look
(Where possible all products are linked)
BASE & TOOLS
- Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
- Sleek CC Cream Shade Fair
- Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation Shade Fair – Light Honey
- Tarte Airbuki Powder Brush
- Snazaroo Face Paint in White
- Snazaroo Face Paint in Black
- Beauty Blender
- e.l.f Small Angled Brush
I applied the snazaroo face paints with both a Beauty Blender and a small paint-style-brush. It does require quite a lot of layering and I would say it’s patchy. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on better quality face paints just for this look alone, but if you have the budget I’d suggest skipping these and buying something different.
EYES & TOOLS
- No7 eyelash curlers
- Avon Big & Multiplied mascara (upper and lower lashes)
- Sleek i-Divine Eye Palette in Bad Girl
Across the whole lid I placed Rebel and then in the outer V and crease of my eyelid I placed the shade Twilight. I also ran Twilight underneath my lower lashes.
- The Body Shop Eyeshadow Blending Brush and Eyeshadow Crease Brush
LIPS
- Barbara Daly Lipstick in Icon
- Rimmel Apocalips in Eclipse
To create the teeth shadowing I used a combination of the darkest shade in the Bad Girl palette and the black Snazaroo face paint. Although my Sister did lovingly point out that it looks like a mustache.. which is all I can see now. So maybe skip that step unless you are actually good at applying makeup.
CRYSTALS
- Round Self-Adhesive Crystals in various sizes
If you are going to wear this look for an extended period of time, i.e. not like me who removed it the moment I was done taking photos, then make sure you glue the gems on with eyelash glue. The sticky backs will not hold for very long, or if you wish to, you know, move your face at all.
ACCESSORIES
And that is the finished look. All in all, considering my general know how with applying makeup (a.k.a. very limited), I’m okay with how well I did with this. So if you are actually skilled with makeup application this would look amazing, and if anyone does recreate it please let me know!
